Q-WHAT DOES ICHOR MEAN?

In Greek Mythology Ichor is the golden fluid that flows in the veins of the Gods.  It is pronounced “eye-cor”.

Q-ARE YOU AIRSOFT BALLISTICS?

Technically we are not.  See our ‘About Us’ page for all the details!

Q-WHAT IS AIRSOFT?

Airsoft is a recreational team sport that started in the 1970's in Japan, coming to the US in the late 1990’s.  Games run similar to paintball, however airsoft guns shoot 6mm plastic BBs instead of paint. Airsoft is currently played in certified or regulated sporting event or competitions, in military or civilian training activities, in theatrical productions and by groups of friends who just want to shoot each other.

Airsoft guns are NOT BB guns, which shoot metal projectiles at dangerous speeds. Nor is it paintball, Airsoft gained its popularity over paintball because it is more affordable, better looking, more practical, and much cleaner than paintball.

Q-HOW ARE AIRSOFT GUNS POWERED?

There three main categories; Electric, Gas and Spring.  Electric airsoft guns are called Auto Electric Guns (or AEG’s) and run on rechargeable batteries.  Gas guns generally run on either CO2 or Green Gas, though a new trend is to tap the gas guns to run on High Pressure Air tanks.  Spring guns are generally Snipers and shoot above average for speed.  Low cost spring options are referred to as ‘Plinkers’ and shoot WAY below average.  Plinkers are a small step above Nerf guns.

Q-WHAT BATTERIES DO THE AEG’s USE?

There are two main kinds of rechargeable batteries available; nickel metal hydrate, which is like a Dodge Dart and only requires a basic charger (Basic Chargers need to be babysat, set a timer for 3 hours when you plug in the battery and don’t leave them alone). The other option is LIPO batteries, which are like a Corvette and required a smart charger (Smart Chargers will charge the battery until it’s full and then stop).  The Dart will get you there, but given the choice everybody picks the Corvette.

Q-WHAT PROPELLANT IS USED IN THE GAS GUNS?

Gas guns generally run on Green Gas,  CO2, or High Pressure Air (HPA).  Green Gas is propane without the smell and with silicone oil added, to automatically lubricate your gun.  CO2 can be purchased in 12 gram cartridges that drop into the gun and do not lubricate during use. Tapping the gas guns to run on HPA tanks is a pretty simple process, though tanks, fittings & lines can be pricey. You also need to add lubrication to your guns with HPA.

AIRSOFT BB 101:

All the airsoft BB’s we carry are all the same size (6mm) but they come in different weights, from 0.12 grams and up.  0.12 gram BB’s are great for the Plinkers or grenades, however DO NOT use them in your high powered guns.  They can break up inside the gun and cause damage to the internal parts, high end guns need 0.20 gram BB weight or higher.  The heavier the BB weight, the straighter the flight path & the harder they hit.

Q- WHAT IS A FLASH MAG?

Our long Guns magazines come in three different options; Mid-Cap, Hi-Cap and Flash.  Mid-Cap magazines hold 70-150 rounds, they don’t require any winding and they are silent.  They are fed from the top with a speed-loader.  Hi-Cap magazines hold between 300 and 600 rounds, depending on the style of the gun, and you load them by pouring the BB's through an opening on top.  They have a winding wheel on the bottom and will have a BB rattle noise as you run.  Flash Mags load and hold the same amount of BB as a Hi-Cap.  You will still have BB rattle, however you do not need to wind them.  There is a pull string under a door on the base of magazine, you GENTLY pull 3-4 times and half the ammo will feed before you need to pull the string again.

Q-WHAT DOES FPS AND RPS MEAN?

FPS = Feet Per Second, the speed at which the BB travels.

RPS = Rounds Per Second, the number of rounds fired per second.

Hop Up.jpg

Q-WHAT IS HOP-UP?
Hop-up is a devise installed between the gearbox and the inner barrel that is adjusted to create ‘back spin’ on the BB.  This provides counter gravity and/or longer range.  Not all airsoft guns have a Hop-up.

Q-CAN AIRSOFT GUNS BE CONVERTED TO SHOOT REAL BULLETS? ABSOLUTELY NOT!  As shown in the pictures below (airsoft gun on the left and real steel gun on the right) the internals are completely different.  Even if you could trade out all the internals for Real Steel rifle parts, (you would need to exchange barrels also, as a BB is much smaller than most bullets) the external parts on the airsoft gun would never be able to handle the ignition of the gun powder.

Q-IS THERE A LOCAL FIELD?
Yes.  Argonauts Arena is located in Chino Valley.  It is the largest airsoft field in the state.  See all the info under the Arena tab.
